The '93 Storm opened the 2007 VYSL season with a 3 - 2 victory over the Anthem Attack.  The Storm took the lead 1 -0 after Anthem got an own goal.  But after giving up two goals and going down 2 - 1 the Storm fought back with goals by Giancarlo, off a rebound, and a tremendous game winning header from a corner kick by Juan.  Great start boys.  The next game will be on October 6 when the Storm travel to take on the 93 Blackhawks Red.

**SCHEDULE CHANGE - The 7:45p game on Saturday has been moved to 5:00p.  Arrive at 4:00p.

The following is the indoor schedule:

The 93 Storm took 3rd place in the 1st Annual Territorial Cup hosted at Friendship Park.  With the addition of two new players the team continues to add depth and become familiar with each other, the boys played hard all weekend.  The next tournament will be the Southwest Club Challenge the weekend of March 10 at Friendship Park.  After that the team will compete in Open Cup beginning March 16.

The 93 Storm fell behind 2 - 0 early to SC Del Sol but were able mount a comeback and earn a 2 - 2 draw.  Jason Ponce and Kent Uras scored goals for the Storm in the second half to get the result.  Defensively the Storm played well but gave up a couple of goals in the first half.  With the Storm continuing to improve they will take on the North Phoenix Baptist Wolfpack on Saturday January 20 at 8:00am at Washington Park.  With the draw the Storms record for the VYSL second season is now 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 tie.

The 93 Storm Boys kicked off the VYSL 2nd Season with a 3 - 1 victory over Arizona SC Thunder. Jason Ponce scored twice and Nick Lewis added one for the final tally. The only goal given up was on a well placed penalty kick by the Thunder. With the addition of five new players in the past month the Storm are working to develop continuity on the field. Today's match was a great first step in preparing for their next tournament, CCV Shoot for the Stars, the weekend of January 28.

The boys participated in the Kohl's X-Mas Angel tournament and not only played good soccer but donated toys to a tremendous cause - the Salvation Army X-Mas Angel program.  The following was sent out to all teams who participated:

The 93 Boys played in the Arizona Cup this weekend (11/3 - 11/5) and finished with Bronze medals.  The team is making strides as it continues to improve and strive for consistency in their play.  The team will practice this week and get prepared for its next match against the CCV Stars on Saturday 11/11 at 2:45p at Palm Valley Elementary School.

This past weekend the 93 Storm Boys participated in the Phoenix Cup.  The boys were placed in a tough four team bracket with Gilbert Select 92, 92 Arsenal (NV), and the Ft. Lowell Solari.  After two tough losses to the Gilbert Select 92 and the 92 Arsenal the boys closed out the tournament with a victory over the Ft. Lowell Solari.  The next game for the 93 Storm Boys is Tuesday October 24 at 6:45p at Desert West where they will take on the Ahwatukee Rangers.

The Storm 93 Boys defeated the Arizona SC Thunder by a score of 4 - 1 on Saturday October 7 in Gilbert.  Goals were scored by Jason Ponce, Kent Uras, and Julio Carranza (2).  After a good week of practice the boys came out and played well and played as one team.  At halftime the boys led the game 1 - 0 but the second half started rough as the Thunder came out and quickly scored an equalizer.  After that the Storm were able to score three more goals and a couple of sellar saves by Alex DiBenedetto sealed the victory. 

The boys play next play the weekend of 10/13 at Rose Mofford Sports Complex in the Phoenix Cup.  When the schedule is available the website will be updated.

Practice will take place this week on Tuesday (9/26) and Thursday (9/28) at Friendship Park from 6p - 8p.  We will have a scrimmage game on Wednesday (9/27) at Desert West at 6p. 

Our first VYSL games will be this Saturday (9/30) at 9:30a against Desert Elite at Cactus Shadows HS (direction can be found on the Fields link).  Warm-ups for the game will begin at 8:45a. 

We will play a second game on Saturday (9/30) at 4:00p against Pinnacle Soccer Club at Thomas Park (144th Ave./Thomas).  Warm-ups for the game will begin at 3:15p.

Arrive at both games wearing yellow socks, yellow shorts, and practice shirts.  Bring all uniforms for these games (yellow and white jersey's and white socks.)

The VYSL schedule has been published but it is being changed by many teams to account for tournaments.  Once the schedule stabilizes we will update the website.  If you have any questions contact Jennifer.
